Welcome to Sandwell

Local manufacturing firm Malthouse Engineering have been working with Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council to design and fabricate a welcome sign to be installed on Birchley Island at Junction 2 of the M5 and the Birmingham Wolverhampton new road.   The main letters have been produced from 350mm thick, S355 steel plate and stand 3 metres tall and 7 metres long. The plate, weighing a total of 18.7 tonnes was cut and then ground on Malthouses 120 inch Lumsden Grinder.   Malthouse Engineering are the UKs largest independent steel profilers providing flame cut steel profiles in 5mm to 500mm thick steel

How has Malthouse Engineering reduced its impact on the local environment

In the latest of a number of presentations given by Managing Director Roy Taylor he discussed the different activities that Malthouse is involved in to reduce our impact on the environment. Malthouse Engineering Nominated for Insider Media Award

Malthouse Engineering were nominated for an Insider Media Made in the Midlands award in the Technology Transfer category. The nomination recognises the work that Malhouse has done with with University of Wolverhampton and Birmignham City Universty in collaborating on the knowledge transfer partnership programme.   The awards event which was hosted by former Home Secretary Michael Portillo was on Tuesday 1st November at the Ricoh Arena. Competition for the prize was strong with Malthouse Engineering going up against Morgan Motors and the  Envisage Group. Despite the success Malthouse Engineering has  had through the Knowledge Transfer Partnership programme we were unsuccessful on the night with the Envisage Group winning

One of our KTP associates moves on

Malthouse Engineering work closely with regional Universities to share our manufacturing knowledge an to transfer knowledge from higher education institutes into our business.   As part of this work we entered into a knowledge transfer partnership with Birmingham City University about 2 years ago. The KTP was to bring in a graduate to support the development of our sales database and to help improve our approach to lean manufacturing.   Paul Hopkinson was the graduate who was hired and has been with us for a successful 2 years. During the partnership he worked with our sales team to overhaul the sales database and move on to improving the transport

Malthouse Engineering Renew Made in the Midlands Membership

Malthouse Engineering have renewed their Made in the Midlands membership. The Made in the Midlands campaign was set up by local business paper Business Report in XXXX. Since then it has grown to over XXXX members with Malthouse Engineering being one of the first.
